Large Bison with Babies

This piece was made by Peter Ray James. A large mother bison has two smaller bison that are each on their own path of life, depicted on her side. James takes canvas, sews it together, stuffs it with fiberfill, paints it adding Native symbolism to it. In this way he is telling a story with each piece in addition to decorating it. To the uneducated in Native history, they are beautiful, but to those who understand the symbolism, they each have a unique story to tell. The piece is approximately 12 by 22 inches.
